Who knows if they will be any good but I like seeing a franchise keeping former players around. It seems to build a good stable attitude around the team. Look at Detroit as an example.

I agree somewhat, but Brisebois showing the kids how it's done? Ok he's francophone and played for the Habs twice, and I believe he was on the '93 team, but man did he make a lot of bad plays. I guess on ice play and off ice coaching/mentorship are completely different things. I do like Martin Lapointe being hired as well, hoping for Ian Laperriere as well, but not holding my breath. I like former NHLers being around the team more than guys like Don Cherry who blow a lot of hot air and never had a career in the show.

You can add Gerard Gallant to the group, man they have a lot of strength and depth at coaching and management, tons of NHL experience backing up the players.

OK they have come mechanics . . . now to stoke the engine. lets see who is drafted, who is signed July 1, and what they do with Gomez.
As to the $3.5 million dollar a goal man, I wonder if they are going to give him a month or two with the new coaching team to see if the problem was JM [looking for an excuse and a reason not to dump the salary at the beginning of the season].

I know I'm the optimistic type, but I think they'll be obviously highly motivated after missing the playoffs last season. They'll have one of the best lines in hockey that will prove they're no fluke. MaxPac imo is one of the premier young talents in the game (which is why I own him in our keeper pool) and Cole works harder than anyone I've seen wear a Habs jersey in a long time. Obviously adding Markov and Gionta to the team that missed last season will help big time with the offense. I'm looking for somebody to surprise and make the team that isn't expected to, perhaps a Brendan Gallagher who was their best player in last years pre-season, or Jarred Tinordi or Nathan Beaulieu, two prospects that any team would love to have. It's going to be an exciting two weeks for sure, starting with Friday and then July 1st we get to see what other pieces will be added. It's go time for Bergevin, he's got his team in place and now it's time for them to fill in their roster.

Unfortunately I'm away July 1 and won't know until the 4th what happens in the hockey world.
I don't think Tinordi is ready for prime time; a year of seasoning in the AHL would be good for him but once he makes it to the bigs I see a long and solid career.

I agree about Tinordi, but if he is good enough to crack the top 6 and get 10+ minutes at the NHL without being a liability I don't mind. I'm saying this if he is the BDA at camp, (best defenceman available). I think the future is great between the pipes and on the blue line, reminds me a teenie bit of the 70's habs with Dryden and the wall in front of him. Now we just need to find Lafleur

I'd be OK with Tinordi at 10-12 minutes but don't think he'll get it . . . a bit of seasoning won't hurt, then bring him up with a couple of games left in the season and let him follow the precedent of our future #1 d-man -- go wild in the playoffs!
Markov-PK Gorges-Emelin [sign him!] Diaz-Kaberle [ouch, not a fan] Weber
Tinordi in the wings along with Beaulieu, and Ellis [if he can make the jump] might give the Dogs an improved d [does Dietz get another year in the Dub?].
